Great Job Sea Dragons!!!

IMPORTANT Meet Information vs. Apex Breakers

Apex Breakers Meet Information
July 1st, 2014 @ 6 p.m.

This week we swim the Sea Dragons at the Lila Jones Swim Club (Apex Breakers pool) (address and directions below). The Apex Breakers have approximately 222 swimmers. They are ranked 9th, Division 3 in the league (Scotts Mill is ranked 6th, division 2), and their record is 1-1.   The Apex Breakers pool has 6 lanes.

Meet format: Apex Breakers do NOT swim their 6 & Under age group first - they follow traditional meet format. Therefore, we will be swimming our 6 & Under age group in normal sequence and rotation with the other age groups. They have a large team so they will usually allow "dive-overs" to keep the meet running smoothly.

All swimmers need to be at the pool by 5 pm, with sunscreen already applied.

The meet will start promptly at 6 pm. Please keep your swimmers in the dragon lair during the meet so that the kid pushers can find them.

Swimmers should wear their team suits and team caps. If you do not a have a Sea Dragon cap, wear no cap or a PLAIN cap (i.e. no other team names -- year-round team or high school -- on your cap).

Parents and spectators need to bring folding chairs. Due to limited space, no chairs are allowed in the dragon lair, except for parent volunteers.

Please allow our kid pushers and clerk of course crew to line up and seat your swimmers for their races. Do not walk your swimmer to the chairs behind the blocks as this confuses things and causes congestion.

Also remind your swimmers that it is good swimming etiquette to stay in the pool after a race until all the swimmers in the heat are finished. And handshakes and high-fives for the swimmers in the adjacent lanes are also way cool.
There will be a parent/coaches relay if time allows that will take place after the breast stroke, weather permitting. Please let Heather Retammel know if you are interested.

Visitor Seating

We have a visitors section reserved for the Sea Dragons. As you walk into the pool area, this section will be located at the far side of the pool deck.

Sign up for Cary City Meet...

Cary City Meet Medalist 2005

Do you recognize these Sea Dragons?  These boys had a ball at their first Cary City Meet a long time ago.  They also got a taste of what it is like to have a winning relay team at a big Championship meet. ( they were not even year-round swimmers at the time)

Would you like to be part of a winning team and swim in a championship meet ?
Our 2014 Sea Dragons are positioned to do very well at this year's Championship meet, but it takes a whole team to succeed! These four boys did not medal all by themselves!

The Cary City Meet Invitational is held every year and is open to all TSA teams.  This year it will be held Saturday, July 19th.  It is an all day event but is broken up into a morning (10 & unders) and afternoon session (11 & ups).  We would love to take our WHOLE team to this event!  As a whole team we could score very well, and have a LOT of fun! Unlike our Tuesday meets, there is NO main events, the Top 16 fastest times score points for the team!  So each individual swimmer has the potential to score for the Sea Dragons.

Please join the fun and bring the Spirit of the Sea Dragons back to the Cary City Meet!  Click here to SIGN UP.  This is a Sign UP sheet unlike our normal sign OUT sheet.

Let's bring a large team to the Cary City Invitational and enjoy some fast swimming and lots of fun!

Sign up TODAY.  DEADLINE for entries is Monday July7th.

WOW!!!

It was a ferocious battle last night between the Sea Dragons!  Our Scotts Mill Sea Dragons, swam their fastest until the bitter end, fighting for ever point!

Unfortunately the outcome of the score has not been finalized!  The officials have not signed the score sheets as of yet, because of a disqualification discrepency.

Please stay tuned and we will update you as soon we receive the official news.  Our TSA official Carol Medins, worked very hard last night to keep the meet competitive, fair, and running smoothly.  She is working hard, now after the meet,  to ensure that we  get the correct scoring results too.

Thank you to all of the amazing coaches who cheered and kept our swimmers swimming fast until the end.   Thank you to our phenomenal volunteers who got the kids to their correct places for all of the races, the place judges and stroke and turn judges, who called the meet fairly, and the large vast of parents who behind the scenes, kept the meet running smoothly.

Stay tuned for the official score!

Swimmers Times and Records from the Lochmere Meet!

Those fast Sea Dragons are really making a splash this season!  They are getting faster everyday.  Take a look at your swimmers times and see how they are doing.  Keep in mind that the times are recorded to the best of our ability.  Several changes were made "on the fly" during the meet when we had to change heats due to missing swimmers, so some times may be incorrect.

Here are the links to:

It's a WIN!

Congratulations to all of the Sea Dragons, Coaches and Volunteers!

Our Scotts Mill Sea Dragons defeated the Lochmere Monsters in a fierce dual, and won by just a mere 13.5 points!  The Sea Dragons swam fast and battled hard to the end to pull off the victory.  The final score was Scotts Mill Sea Dragons 263.5 Lochmere Monsters 250.5.  Fast swimming, great sportsmanship and team spirit contributed to our successful first win of the season.

Congratulations Sea Dragons!

Swimmers times, pool records and team records will follow.

Announcing our Junior Dragon Meet!

Junior Dragons!

There is a swim meet at Sunset Ridge against their junior team THIS SATURDAY (June 21st). This is a great opportunity for the Junior Dragons to experience a "meet" in a fun, low-pressure setting.

Please arrive at 8:40 am so we can start at 9. We will stretch, do a quick warm up, and begin swimming at 9. Each swimmer will have the chance (if they like) to swim freestyle and backstroke. There will be ribbons for all and snacks afterwards! It should end before 10 am.

Please let me know if you are going! There will be no Junior Dragon practice on Saturday if you are not going to the meet. Go Sea Dragons!

See you at Sunset Ridge! Here are directions:

The pool is located at 215 Kingsport Rd, Holly Springs, NC.  From Apex, head down Highway 55 towards Holly Springs.  When you reach the new Holly Springs Towne Center (where the new Target is), turn left onto Holly Springs Rd.  Go 2 miles down Holly Springs Rd, then turn left onto Middlecrest Way.  When Middlecrest Way ends (you'll be able to see the pool on your left by this point), turn left onto Kingsport Dr, and then immediately turn left again into the pool parking lot.  If you need to park on the road, please park on the pool side of Middlecrest way, or the OPPOSITE side of the street on Kingsport Dr.  It should take about 15 minutes from Scotts Mill.

First Dual Swim meet of the season!

Lochmere Meet Information
Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at 6 pm

We swim at HOME against the Lochmere Swim Club.  Lochmere has approximately 200 swimmers. They are ranked 4th in Division 2 (Scotts Mill is ranked 6th, in Division 2),. This is an IN division meet and it looks to be a very fun and competitive meet!

10 & unders need to be at the pool by 4:30 pm, and 11 & ups need to be at the pool by 4:45 -- with sunscreen already applied. Please be prompt, swimmers will be warming up at 5:00 to ensure that the meet starts on time.

Meet will begin promptly at 6:00 pm. Please keep your swimmers in the dragon lair during the meet so that the kid pushers can find them.  Feel free to bring snacks/dinner from concessions to them, while they wait in the lair for their races to be called.

Lochmere has agreed to run all the 6&under events first, before the Medley Relay.  6&unders may leave after they swim their last event, but parent volunteers must stay until the end.

Swimmers should wear their team suits and team caps.  If you do not a have a Sea Dragon cap, wear no cap or a PLAIN cap (i.e. no other team names -- year-round team or high school -- on your cap).

Dive Overs: In an effort to speed up the meet, all 11 & up events will have dive overs.  Please remind your swimmers to remain in the pool until the next heat has started.  This applies for the freestyle, breaststroke and butterfly events.

Please leave the designated visitor seating area for our visiting team.

Parents and spectators should bring folding chairs.

Our HOA has requested that we do not allow our swimmers to write on their backs with permanent markers. The marker transfers to our deck chairs (not to mention your leather car seats) and leaves a terrible mess for our clean up crew.

Also remind your swimmers that it is good swimming etiquette to stay in the pool after a race until all the swimmers in the heat are finished. And handshakes and high-fives for the swimmers in the adjacent lanes are also way cool.

Volunteer Assignments

ALL Volunteers please check in with Cyndi Edgington or Mimi Switzer between 5:15- 5:30 at the volunteer table at the start end of the pool.  Meet officials (timers, Clerk of Course, and Judges) will need to attend an officials meeting at 5:45.

Parking

Due to our LIMITED parking, please walk, bike or carpool up to the pool. This will leave the parking spaces open for our visitors. If you must park on the street, please park on only on the Pool side of the road, as this will leave enough clearance for emergency vehicles. Remember that we are the host team, and allowing our guests ample parking is much appreciated by our guest team!

Concession sales at the meets are a HUGE fundraiser for our team. All proceeds go directly back into the Sea Dragons' wallet!

Results from the Blue/Green Meet

Parents, Coaches and Swimmers:

What a great Blue/Green Meet!

For those of you who were there, thank you for participating and volunteering.  The meet went very smoothly.  New parents were able to learn from the veteran swim parents, coaches were able to capture swimmers times and watch swimmers' technique during races, and swimmers learned how fun a summer swim meet can be!  It looks like it is going to be a fun and exciting season!

If you were not able to make it Saturday, do not fear!  The coaches will capture swimmers times at practice this week and parents can learn their positions from another "veteran" swim parent at the upcoming meets.  If you have not signed up for a parent volunteer position, please do so as soon as possible.  We will be making follow up phone calls to those families who have not fulfilled their volunteer commitment.  It truly  takes a village to run a swim meet! We are in desperate need of place judges.  This is a great position to work as you will have a front row seat and will see all of the action!
Click HERE to sign up for a volunteer position:

Also it is VERY important to sign your child OUT of a meet if you are not going to be able to make a Tuesday Night Dual Meet.  The first meet is Tuesday,  June 17th.  Please take a minute and sign your child out by clicking here.   You may sign out of all the meets you will not make now.  So if you have vacation already booked in July, go ahead and sign out.

Lastly, we have the results from the Blue/Green meet.  There are two links, as some of the results were added during the meet and could not be incorporated in the original file.  So if you don't see your child's name in the first link, check the other.

The results for ALL meets are posted and the link is password protected.  If you are in need of the password email me at tpwilliams@greatharvest.com.

We are off to a great start!  Go Sea Dragons!

Meet Manager
