Purchase the 2014 Sea Dragons' Slide Show today!

Hey everybody...GUESS WHAT TIME IT IS......Time to buy your slide show from the 2014 Sea Dragons' Swim Team Season.

Unfortunately, weather prevented us on several occasions from gathering for a team picture. This is most unfortunate and we will make sure to try and capture the team pic even earlier next year. But the good news is that you will now have the extra money to purchase a slide show with so many of our season's great memories.

The cd can be purchased for $15 and has been enhanced since you saw it at the banquet with many additional photos that were contributed throughout the season. $10 from each CD that is sold will go directly back to your Sea Dragons.

Make sure you order this keepsake so that you will have the images even after your memories fade into the winter.  You can do so by contacting Christopher Moran at bipman9@icloud.com

Is your child enjoying the sport of swimming? Why end the fun now?

If your child has enjoyed summer swim team and you would like to learn more about year round swimming in the triangle area, meet at the pool Monday, July 21st from 7pm-730pm.

As a parent of year round swimmers, I have thoroughly enjoyed the journey with our children.  We have spent 10 years in year round swimming and we are familiar with several of the local programs.  I can give you a parent's perspective on what is involved in supporting your child in year round swimming.  It has been a very positive experience for our children.

I will have information packets from all of the local teams at the pool on Monday July, 21st from 7pm-730pm.

See you there!

Parking and Swimmer Drop Off:
Cary City Meet at Scottish Hills Swim Club, Cary, NC

There will be close to 1500 swimmers at each session at this meet so plan on there being traffic before each session.  Please plan your timing appropriately, late swimmers make for nervous swimmers and nervous swimmers are not always having fun or swimming fast!  Please arrive via the Tarbert Rd. entrance off of Cary Pkwy (be advised that Cary Pkwy at Old Apex is closed).  I recommend that you take Lake Pine to Cary Pkwy.    Swimmer drop off is on pool side of Tarbert Rd ONLY.  Parking is throughout the neighborhood.  Please do not block driveways, mailboxes or fire hydrants.  Cary Police will be patrolling-Plan on walking a few blocks from your car to our tent area.

What to bring:  Bring chairs or blankets to sit on under the tents.  Bring snacks, the team will provide some small snacks, water and Gatorade. Games are also a great idea to pass the time between events.  Food truck concessions, heat sheets ($5.00), and t-shirts ($12.00) will be available for purchase at the meet as well.  They are accepting cash and credit cards this year.

Preparation: We will continue with the “Super Sea Dragon” Theme for the Cary City Meet.  So if you have any “Super Sea Dragon, caps, masks or posters from Tuesday night’s meet- please bring them.  We want to show off our Sea Dragon Spirit, there is a team Spirit Award!  Make sure your swimmer gets plenty of rest the night before.
Let your swimmer know that they will likely not see their coaches before they swim, but as they get on the blocks they should look for the Sea Dragon Coaches for a big thumbs up and cheer.  After they exit the pool, they should go to see the coaches BEFORE they return to our tent area.

The meet officials are also recommending that we put the swimmers Last Name, first initial on the back of the swimmers right shoulder.  This will help the kid pushers keep 1500 kids moving and help the meet run more efficiently.  You do NOT need to put their swimmer number on their arm.  We will have extra sharpies at the tent to right names on shoulders.

Free online heat sheets are available now.  You may download and print (http://www.swimteam.scottishhills.org) if you would like or purchase them at the meet for $5.00.
Viewing the heat sheet in advance will allow you to see your child’s entries and seed time.  Use this information to get them excited about their swims!  Also note, per the meet officials, there are NO changes that can be made to entries at this time.

Tent City:  When you arrive at the pool make your way to the Sea Dragon tent.  There will be a  sea of tents in the grassy area. Ours will be situated in the back corner behind the volleyball courts.  Do NOT go on the pool deck, until our warm up time.  We will go to warm ups as a team and we all need to meet at the Sea Dragon tent first.
Our tent will be decorated with posters and blue and green decorations.  Bring your Sea Dragon spirit wear, your Sea Dragon Pride and fast swimming!

Parent Volunteers:  Thank you for being a part of the Cary City Championship Meet.  As you know it takes a village to run a swim meet, so we will be taking turns manning our assigned volunteer positions and helping the kids get to the clerk of course.  Carol Medins will be our morning session coordinator.  If you have questions at the meet please see Carol.  Her cell phone contact is 919-302-3648.   Paige Williams will be our afternoon session coordinator.  Her cell phone number is 919-523-0424.

SPLASH NIGHT RESCHEDULED!!!

We are rescheduling Splash Night for 6 PM on WEDNESDAY NIGHT, what is typically a fun practice since we have won our past meets and will hopefully win against Sunset Ridge! All Seadragon (except Junior Dragons) practice will be cancelled that night in hopes that people will come to Splash Night instead. Junior Dragons will have practice at their normal 4:30 time (this will allow the coaches an hour to help set up between practice and Splash Night). We are starting at an earlier time so we can finish by 8ish and let people get to bed, since I know kids have school the next day.

Great Job Sea Dragons!!!

IMPORTANT Meet Information vs. Apex Breakers

Apex Breakers Meet Information
July 1st, 2014 @ 6 p.m.

This week we swim the Sea Dragons at the Lila Jones Swim Club (Apex Breakers pool) (address and directions below). The Apex Breakers have approximately 222 swimmers. They are ranked 9th, Division 3 in the league (Scotts Mill is ranked 6th, division 2), and their record is 1-1.   The Apex Breakers pool has 6 lanes.

Meet format: Apex Breakers do NOT swim their 6 & Under age group first - they follow traditional meet format. Therefore, we will be swimming our 6 & Under age group in normal sequence and rotation with the other age groups. They have a large team so they will usually allow "dive-overs" to keep the meet running smoothly.

All swimmers need to be at the pool by 5 pm, with sunscreen already applied.

The meet will start promptly at 6 pm. Please keep your swimmers in the dragon lair during the meet so that the kid pushers can find them.

Swimmers should wear their team suits and team caps. If you do not a have a Sea Dragon cap, wear no cap or a PLAIN cap (i.e. no other team names -- year-round team or high school -- on your cap).

Parents and spectators need to bring folding chairs. Due to limited space, no chairs are allowed in the dragon lair, except for parent volunteers.

Please allow our kid pushers and clerk of course crew to line up and seat your swimmers for their races. Do not walk your swimmer to the chairs behind the blocks as this confuses things and causes congestion.

Also remind your swimmers that it is good swimming etiquette to stay in the pool after a race until all the swimmers in the heat are finished. And handshakes and high-fives for the swimmers in the adjacent lanes are also way cool.
There will be a parent/coaches relay if time allows that will take place after the breast stroke, weather permitting. Please let Heather Retammel know if you are interested.

Visitor Seating

We have a visitors section reserved for the Sea Dragons. As you walk into the pool area, this section will be located at the far side of the pool deck.

IT'S OFFICIAL!! IT'S A TIE!!

Congratulations Sea Dragons!!!  It is official - we fought during the meet hard - we fought after the meet hard.....and in the end.....the score was TIED.  (Which should almost count as two wins if you ask this proud mama - for what we all endured that evening).  This is the toughest team we swim (3 up from our current standing!)  It was a loooong night and it was exciting and we are so proud of our swimmers, our coaches and especially our TSA Rep, Carol Medins who had her battle gear on all night for this one!!  Great Job Sea Dragons - you ROCK!!

Sign up for Cary City Meet...

Cary City Meet Medalist 2005

Do you recognize these Sea Dragons?  These boys had a ball at their first Cary City Meet a long time ago.  They also got a taste of what it is like to have a winning relay team at a big Championship meet. ( they were not even year-round swimmers at the time)

Would you like to be part of a winning team and swim in a championship meet ?
Our 2014 Sea Dragons are positioned to do very well at this year's Championship meet, but it takes a whole team to succeed! These four boys did not medal all by themselves!

The Cary City Meet Invitational is held every year and is open to all TSA teams.  This year it will be held Saturday, July 19th.  It is an all day event but is broken up into a morning (10 & unders) and afternoon session (11 & ups).  We would love to take our WHOLE team to this event!  As a whole team we could score very well, and have a LOT of fun! Unlike our Tuesday meets, there is NO main events, the Top 16 fastest times score points for the team!  So each individual swimmer has the potential to score for the Sea Dragons.

Please join the fun and bring the Spirit of the Sea Dragons back to the Cary City Meet!  Click here to SIGN UP.  This is a Sign UP sheet unlike our normal sign OUT sheet.

Let's bring a large team to the Cary City Invitational and enjoy some fast swimming and lots of fun!

Sign up TODAY.  DEADLINE for entries is Monday July7th.

WOW!!!

It was a ferocious battle last night between the Sea Dragons!  Our Scotts Mill Sea Dragons, swam their fastest until the bitter end, fighting for ever point!

Unfortunately the outcome of the score has not been finalized!  The officials have not signed the score sheets as of yet, because of a disqualification discrepency.

Please stay tuned and we will update you as soon we receive the official news.  Our TSA official Carol Medins, worked very hard last night to keep the meet competitive, fair, and running smoothly.  She is working hard, now after the meet,  to ensure that we  get the correct scoring results too.

Thank you to all of the amazing coaches who cheered and kept our swimmers swimming fast until the end.   Thank you to our phenomenal volunteers who got the kids to their correct places for all of the races, the place judges and stroke and turn judges, who called the meet fairly, and the large vast of parents who behind the scenes, kept the meet running smoothly.

Stay tuned for the official score!

Go Sea Dragons!
